These really are the times that try our souls. And it is a sign of the times that the Jill Stein campaign has become a megaphone speaking out against police repression of pro-democracy protests. In defending Occupy Wall Street protests across country, speaking out against the National Defense Authorization Act, and with plans this Friday to join protests against the closure of the Wisconsin State Capitol, Dr. Stein has helped to mobilize action among those who identify with the 99% message. |
One example of this mobilization is the over 2,000 individuals who have since Thursday signed the "First Amendment Pledge," a statement initiated by Dr. Stein which concludes, "I pledge non-cooperation with police repression and will not vote for or support those responsible for it." The pledge, along with prominent initial signers, can be seen here: http://www. If you haven't already done so, please sign that pledge, and forward it to others to sign. |
At midnight last Thursday, in her home state, Dr. Stein joined with supporters at Boston’s Dewey Square to strengthen Occupy Boston when a police raid seemed imminent. The police held off from the expected raid that night, but later moved in and made scores of arrests on Saturday. In the past several days, police have also raided public assemblies associated with Occupy Wall Street in Houston, San Francisco, Baltimore, Portland (ME), and elsewhere.

Haven't liked Greens since Nader let Bush win in 2000.
